Ivan Le Lorraine Albright (born in 1897 and died in 1983). Albright's model for this piece was actually only 20 years old, but in the harsh overhead lights of his studio he painted the girl as she would be many years into her future.  This painting , painted 1929-30, was Albright's version of a Renaissance "Vanitas" portrait including a still life representing temporarily and worldly things.
