Séon: Le Désespoir de la Chimère. This picture had an immense success when it was first exhibited at the Salon des Rose+Croix. The subject and the drawing are derived from Moreau but the blue coloring places the Chimera in a dream landscape which belongs entirely to the Symbolists. The face and hairstyle are those of a femme fatale like Cléo de Mérode.
