Madura's DANCELAND

"Indiana's Most Beautiful Ballroom" with the one and only spacious, "spring cushion" dance floor.

Digital photograph showing the painting progress on Bruce Cegur's newest South Shore Poster, Madura's Danceland. Progress 2

The dance floor was painted from top to bottom and from left to right in sections naturally created by the positions of the dancers. As you can see, I have included the basic lighting at this stage. It is obvious at this point, that the areas in shadow will need to be darkened and the highlights brought up a bit in spots.

The palette used for the floor consisted of basically six shades of browns and raw umbers. The oil colors used were burnt umber, burnt sienna, raw umber, permanent red, cad yellow medium, dioxazine purple and titanium white. Later, permanent green was added.
