THE PROCESS
- After the image has been drawn onto the canvas, I began painting in the upper left corner.
- I then worked across the top and to the left corner of the canvas.
- As you can see, I worked left to right, top to bottom.
- When the entire image was painted, I began filling in the letters.
- I painted in the letters
one or two colors per
day allowing a day or two
in-between to allow the
paint to dry completely.
- The last thing I painted in were the border colors One color per day.
- After the entire canvas was filled with color, I returned to the main image and adjusted the lights and darks using transparencies. When I was satisfied with what I considered to be the finished painting, I lived with it a week or so (a deadline shortens this wait) and then signed the finished work. I should mention that the process that I have described is unique to this particular project.
