For the last couple of years, my time has been spent mostly on a new project. I am one of a stable of artists chosen to participate in the new "South Shore Line Millennium Poster Project" through the Northwest Indiana Forum, Portage, Indiana. The project consists of 51 paintings of modern images of Northwest Indiana building on the creative tradition of the original South Shore posters from the 1920's. Each poster is sponsored by different companies and organizations in an attempt to "capture the spirit of a region in Renaissance by showing a thriving and diverse 21st century community".
- Three different views are created by the artist from which the sponsor chooses the preferred view for the final poster.
- The chosen view is painted in oils on a 42" X 28" canvas.
- All lettering is painted directly on the canvas -- in keeping with the process used in the 1920 originals.
I decided that since this project has become such a large part of my life, it should be included in this new/revised section of Cegur's Chimera Gallery. Just click on one of the buttons to your right to view the choices given to the client for each poster as well as more information. Be aware that this is commissioned commercial work and not my normal fare.
