HOBART -- The sense of peace and tranquillity you feel walking along Hobart's downtown waterfront has been captured on canvas.
A new South Shore poster, "Lakefront Park," almost magically depicts the imagery found along the renovated shoreline of Lake George.
The poster is the work of Hammond artist Bruce Cegur and is one of 19 being released this year to show the diversity and natural resources of the region. It will be publicly unveiled at a lakefront ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday.
The event, called "Posters, Paint and Piano," will include the dedication of a lakefront mural painted by another Hammond artist and feature the musical talents of pianist Stephan Truchan.
Truchan serves as Hobart's city engineer when he's not tickling the ivories.
Painted from the vantage point of the park's covered bridge, it shows such

familiar lakefront landmarks as the clock tower, the fishing pier and assorted ducks,
"I wanted the poster to be warm, tranquil and inviting," said Cegur, who spent three months photographing the lakefront before replicating it in his art studio.
The result depicts what the poster describes as "a tranquil oasis in the heart of downtown."
"I had only been (in Hobart) once before and I was really impressed by the town," Cegur said.
"The comment I hear most often about the poster is that it makes you feel as if you could walk right into it," he said.
Mayor Linda Buzinec said the poster depicts the reality of what the city has to offer residents and visitors alike.
"I know people are already enjoying the lakefront, and the South Shore poster will put Hobart on the map more than it already is," she said.
The city of Hobart joined with HIEDC, a local community and business development group, providing the $6,000 to finance the poster's production.
The posters will be sold for $20 each. Proceeds from the sale will be used to complete the third phase of the lakefront development.
"Lakefront Park" by artist Bruce Cegur will be unveiled at 7 p.m. Friday in Hobart.
