Cegur's creation is part of a collection inspired by the South Shore poster campaign of the 1920s.BY LISA DENEAL HAMMOND - With snow falling outside, windsurfing on a summer's day seemed a million miles away.Nonetheless, a new South Shore Poster, "Windsurfing on Wolf Lake," made its debut Wednesday night at the Hammond South Shore station.Hammond Mayor Duane Dedelow said windsurfing is a popular summer activity at Wolf Lake."Wolf Lake is one of the many unique and beautiful recreational sites located within the city, and this new poster is, in a sense, a celebration of all of Hammond's assets," said Dedelow as he stood beside the original poster. The painting was created by Hammond artist Bruce Cegur, 44, for the South Shore Campaign poster series developed by the North west Indiana Forum.South Shore and the Forum created this series of posters - a total of 50 - because of the popularity of the old poster series in the 1920s sponsored by the South Shore Line."The theme for this series is called Just Around the Corner," said Marcia Carle of Carle Communications.Cegur was available for an autograph session of printed copies."I love the poster, it really catches the activities that happen at Wolf Lake," said Rosie Lewis of Hammond, who purchased two prints at $20 each.Cegur, who created the painting last summer, said he was happy to see a positive response to his work. |
