Hammond artist
Cegur featured
in retrospective show

Bruce Cegur's subject matter embraces florals, figures and the erotic.
His work has been described as "magic super-realism -- a double-edged art form that can express human empathy or leave you feeling totally shut out."
Some of these elements will be evident in "Reality Bytes," a one-man retrospective

While others describe Cegur's work as "magic super-realism," he refers to it as "organic realism."
Every object or figure is broken down into abstract patterns of color which serve to create a constant feeling of motion. With it, he explores his psyche and the psyche of society and its environment.

"Denial" is one example of the works of art by Bruce Cegur on display at the Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in Munster.

In Cegur's figurative work, he uses realistic as well as distorted images to create primarily abstract subject matter.
While this also is the case in much of his environmental work, there are many times when he chooses a subject solely on its color and/or form. In any case, Cegur expands what most observers might miss or view only a fraction of.
The painter, a past board member of the Northern Indiana Arts Association, where he now serves as co-chairman of the exhibit committee, works primarily in oil, watercolor, prismacolor and printing.
He has exhibited extensively in Northwest Indiana and Chicago and many of his works have been reproduced in national publications and on textbook covers.
